Herringbone haven...

The floors in Chateau de la Couronne {a boutique hotel in France} are a perfect little herringbone puzzle.  Relish the beauty.

I see these floors so often here and while I love them, I find them to be a challenge to keep the room simple otherwise you have a busy floor fighting with the rest of the room.
This floor in this photo is wonderful.

It's very restful, and, with the open doors, gives such a sense of a forward sweep. You'd be inclined to parade majestically along the floor in your ballgown.
